I don't know about you, but I have some seriously oily eyelids. Gross. If I don't use some kind of primer, my eyeshadow will all fade and crease and look nastay within an hour or two after I put it on. I used to SWEAR by Benefit's f*y*eye but it's since been discontinued. They replaced it with
Stay Don't Stray which worked ok but not as good as it's predecessor.
I have also used Urban Decay's
Primer Potion and it worked ok... but I wasn't over the moon for it... the design of the bottle SUCKED. They've since redesigned it to a tube so maybe I'll have to give it a try again sometime.
These days, I typically use Too-Faced's
Shadow Insurance. It lasts forever and works really well. But it's also $20 bucks a tube and honestly... I keep seeing drug store brands and thought I'd give them a try. I also had a sample of the Stay Don't Stray so I decided to try them all out and see how they stacked up against each other.
Day 1... I used the Benefit's Stay Don't Stray. $26 for full size ... the one below is trial size.
Here is how it looked at 6am:
And here is what it looked like 12 hours later:
Very creasy and faded and overall... gross.
Next up! e.l.f. 's Eyelid Primer. This costs a whopping $3 at your local drugstore.
Here is how it looked at 6am:
And here is is 12 hours later. Overall not too bad. Faded but not too creasy. Not too shabby for $3.
Ok, Number three is NYX's white eyeshadow base. I believe this was $6 at Bartell's.
Here I am at 6am:
And here I am 12 hours later. Yikes.
Last up, it's Too Faced Shadow Insuarance. $20 for full size (pictured).
Here I am at 6am:
And here I am 12 hours later.... not creasy and not too faded at all!
I declare Shadow Insurance a winner! I do also used e.l.f.'s primer as well, but Too Faced is where it's at!
Do you use eyeshadow primer? What kind do you prefer?
